World of Thaedoria

Android

Play on your phone

World of Thaedoria runs in any mobile browser — but the Android app puts it on your home screen and opens it full-screen, without the address bar eating the top of the story. It is small, and it updates itself.

  1. Download the app

Tap the button below. Android will download a file ending in .apk — that is the app itself.

  2. Allow the install

Because the app comes from us rather than the Play Store, Android asks permission the first time. Tap the notification, then "Settings" if prompted, and allow installing from this source. You only do this once.

  3. Open it

Tap Install, then Open. World of Thaedoria appears on your home screen and runs full-screen — no address bar, no browser tabs. Sign in exactly as you would on the web.

Why does Android warn me?

The app is not on the Play Store, so Android treats it as coming from an unknown source and asks you to confirm. That warning is about where the file came from, not about what is in it. The app is signed with our own certificate, and your phone checks that signature against a record published on this domain before it will open the game full-screen — so it can prove the app and the site are the same people.

You may also see Play Protect offer to scan it. That is normal for any app installed outside the store, and scanning is fine.

Do I have to install anything?

No. The game works in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen from there instead — in Chrome, open the menu and choose "Add to Home screen". You get the same full-screen experience without downloading a file. The app simply makes that a single tap, and gives you something you can keep.

Updates

The app shows the live site, so new content, fixes and features reach you the moment they ship — there is nothing to update. Very occasionally the app itself changes (a new icon, a new Android requirement); when that happens, download it again from this page and install over the top. Your character and progress live on our servers, not in the app, so nothing is ever lost.

iPhone

There is no iPhone app yet. Open the site in Safari, tap the Share button and choose "Add to Home Screen" — that gives you the same full-screen game on iOS.
