Getting started
How to play World of Thaedoria
World of Thaedoria is a browser-based text RPG you play by writing. You describe what your character does in plain words; an AI Storyteller narrates the world's answer while an impartial rules engine decides what actually happens. Here is the whole loop, start to finish.
Create your hero
There are no fixed classes. You build your character through their life story — where they came from, the moment that shaped them, the skills survival taught them — and those choices quietly become your talents. It takes a few minutes and no rulebook.
Type what you want to do
You play by writing, in plain language, exactly what your character does: “ask Bram about the noises past the south door”, “raise my shield and hold the line”, “slip out the loose bar in the corner”. There are no menus to hunt through and no dice to roll yourself.
The engine decides, the Storyteller narrates
Beneath the prose, a rules engine resolves every roll, wound, and consequence impartially. The AI Storyteller only gives it a voice — describing the room, the faces, the weather turning. It can never bend an outcome in your favour, so a win is always earned.
Fight, talk, and explore
Take a bounty off a notice board and step onto a dark road. Fight tactical, turn-based battles where your weapon and position matter; hold real conversations and persuade, intimidate, or read a room; and move through towns that remember what you do.
Come back to one saved adventure
Your story is saved as you play. Close the tab and return tomorrow, press Continue, and your hero is exactly where you left them — one persistent adventure, always waiting.
Do I need to know tabletop RPGs?
No. There is nothing to install and nothing to memorise. If you can describe what you want to do — cautiously open a door, offer a stranger a drink, ready your bow — you can play. The Player's Guide goes deeper on combat, conversation, magic, and how towns react; the FAQ answers the common questions; and the World Codex introduces the realm you'll be exploring.
